Song of the Day: "Bodybag" by Ambassadors

>> Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Ah, last tracks. If you have read this blog, you already know how I feel about the final track on a record, so I am not going to go into it again now. Just click of the "Last Tracks" tag in the cloud over to your right.

This song kills me. KILLS ME. It is by far, one of my favorite songs, off one of my favorite records of the year. And I'm betting you don't have this one in your collection. Pick it up now so you don't feel foolish when everyone is talking about it at the end of the year.

Song of the Day: "Daisies and Pews" by Katie Herzig

>> Sunday, February 19, 2012

So, if you have read this blog before, you will already know how I feel about final tracks of records. As I have mentioned before, I feel like the artists saves their most personal, favorite song until the final track. The song they fought to keep on the record. Now, I have zero evidence of this theory, but it's kinda romantic right?

Anyways. Katie Herzig's entire album is pretty fantastic, but its the last track that stole my heart, and I bet it will steal yours as well. Enjoy.

Song of the Day: "Oh Mississippi" by Lissie

I don't need to spend more then one line of text on this song.

There are very few songs that make you swell, sad, happy, nostalgic, and lonely all at the same time. I count one.

Songs of the Day: "Ain't Gonna Lose You" & "Alone Again" by Brett Dennen

Brett Dennen is the Man. Now, I say that in general, but in particular, he is the Man when it comes to final tracks. And you all know how I feel about final tracks. How I believe, maybe naively, that the last track of an album means something special, something personal, something more to the artist then any other track. That they fought for that song to be on that album and all that jazz.

So, below, you will find two prime-ass examples of how Brett Dennen is the Man.

"Alone Again" by Brett Dennen (of the Loveboy album (amazon.com exclusive track))

Song of the Day: "Falling Rain" by The Boom Booms

If you read this blog, you should know by now that I have a true affinity for last tracks. I think there is always something hidden in those final bars. Something near and dear to the artists heart. Now, I have no proof of this theory, but, it's nice to think about anyways.

So, here it is, the final cut off of The Boom Booms release Hot Rum!. Another Canadian band that does not suck. Congrats Canada.

Song of the Day: "Fasten You To Me" by The Belle Brigade

>> Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Whenever I buy a new record, I always listen to the last track first. I have a theory that the final track is closest to the artists heart. Its the song that the artist fought to get on there. It is the one, that might never see radio daylight, but is often the most impactful and personal on the album. But, it's just a theory.

Anyways, this is one of those final song gems.
