Song of the Day: "Low Rising" by The Swell Season

So this is a re-hash song of the day from January, and that breaks my biggest rule. But it is a song and music video that I keep coming back too this week. It just fits, but in a non-depressing way. Just listen and watch. But actually watch... There are so many bands that don't make any music videos let alone really really great ones anymore, and this is a great one.

Song of the Day: "What Will Be Will Be" by Allo, Darlin

>> Tuesday, October 26, 2010

I have this kind of disorder, its awesome, but hard to explain. When a song is playing, I see it. Its like a slowmotion scene of a movie that just happens. The story of the scene writes itself based on the tone of the song, the lyrics, the voice, and I am sure there is a little of me in that moment in there too. It does not happen all the time, but when it does, its overwhelmingly awesome and memorable.

The reason I bring this up is not so much to embarrass myself, but to share this next song.

I involuntary pictured a woman and a man getting ready separately for some romantic excursion. All slowmotion candlelit and shit, she dancing around the room dress in hand, he cinching up his tie. And thats it. It does not lead to the date, you get no resolution for the scene. It is just what it is. And I think its beautiful.

Song of the Day: "My Own Sinking Ship" & "I Should Go" by Good Old War

Song of the day twofer. Still uncomfortable with the knowledge that "twofer" is a real word. But this little band deserves two displays of awesome, they are so much better live than on their record. But some bands are just that way.

Song of the Day: "Baby Don't Go" by Dum Dum Girls

So I have been trying to find a usable clip for this song for months now. I have loved this song since I got the containing album, but have held off posting it due to my pure hatred of all things slideshow. But, it's been stuck in my head all day, so I figure sharing it, no matter how crap the video, is going to help.

OH! and apparently its ANOTHER cover song, this time it's an old Sonny and Cher song. I did not know that until like 4 mins ago. Awesome.

Stole this song. But, I'm a criminal.

Best accidentally awesome tune of the day. You forget how great some music was right out of the gate. This is real music, real talent, and real perfect for today.
