In honor of my little Elwood today the song of the day is "Hallelujah" I heard it on the drive back home tonight. It was dark and rainy and the roads were slick and I kept thinking about tragedies and happiness. I think Jeff Buckley just does that. He's able to create this feeling that's both haunting and beautiful- it evokes pain and joy all at the same time. As Frou Frou would say there's beauty in the breakdown.
So, I spent the last 2 weeks searching for a video, and trying to create a video for a song from this band, but it has become an impossible task, so, I am going to move onto another couple songs by a band that I am quickly falling in love with.
This is not my normal "type" of music. It is a little too techno/dance/pop, but there is something about her voice that just gets me hyped. This little band from Sweden, just knows how to get it done.
I am feeling unpoetic as of late, but this music screams of gritty beauty that needs to be written about. Enjoy the two songs below.
The first is a song called "Under The Bridges" and it is a little long, but never gets tiresome. The video is of a dance group that is pretty impressive. The band considers this the official music video, but, I am not sure they actually had anything to do with putting it together.
The second is a version of the song that started this whole fiasco of melody. When you buy their EP (here), you get an A Capella version of this exact song, that is impossible not to listen to. There are some songs that can be relegated to background noise, and there are some that take over the room, the A Capella version, of "DJ, Ease My Mind" is the latter.
So, a song of the day twofer. And, an example of myself set.
I am using this blog to show that it is OK to celebrate really bad music. When I was young, but older than I like to admit, I listened to this album constantly, like to the extent that I owned it both in cassette and compact disc mode. Thats embarrassing. And now, I own it in Lossless MP3 mode. Thats even more embarrassing. But, it's OK to champion bad music. Just do not expect me to share it after today.
So, I hate to feel like I am joining some hoopla already in progress, but I was planning on using this song for the SOTD back when I bought the album last month as soon as I could find a good video for it. And, as it is, the artist released a superb music video for it today, I just wish I would have found it before the awesome guys over at Soundonthesound.com did. But, so be it. We can share a song of the day, just once, especially when it is this good.
First things first..... We made it to 300!!! Woo-hoo.
And lucky for you I realized this before I just tossed another Song of the Day up on the page, it forced me to return to the roots of this little baby blog. Listing random shit that only I find important. Todays topic.... Most Quotable Movies of All Time.
So, I will get all the important info out of the way first, this is my list and it does not include Fight Club, so, fuck off.
And, I am not going to list a movie that I actually quote on a semi-regular basis.

So it's been a long time since I've watched the video for "Closer" so when Addi texted me from the M's game today and asked me to make it song of the day I thought "no problem." And then I watched the video and remembered why I hadn't seen it in a long time. That's one raunchy video isn't it? My other bff in 7th grade (Natalie) LOVED Trent Reznor so we used to watch all his videos and like cut pictures of him out of our Rolling Stone magazines. Watching him in this video though, I wonder what he would have done with our impressionable 14 year old...minds. PS is that Jack Nicholson in the picture next to the monkey? Rad.
